The First Burn
When lighting a Lucés candle for the first time, ensure you burn the candle long enough for the wax to melt all the way to the edge of your glass. This sets the “candle memory” which allows for an even burn and smooth wax surface.
The Wick
We use 100% lead-free cotton wicks. To promote an even burn and steady flame, ensure the wick maintains upright and is trimmed to ¼ inch or 7mm. This helps limit ‘mushrooming’ of the wick.
Candle Social Distancing
When burning multiple candles at once, ensure a minimum of 10cm separation. Candles burnt too close together can impact each other’s burn quality, time, and pose a safety threat.
Burn Time
Although Lucés candles can burn for approximately 30+ hours, it’s important to not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. This can cause the wick to become unstable and the candle to smoke and release soot into the air around you.
Extinguishing The Flame
To safely extinguish your candle you may use a wick dipper, candle snuffer, or gentle blow on the flame. We would not recommend putting on the lid to extinguish the flame, as this method traps smoke inside the melted wax and impacts the scent of future burns.
Cleaning
Once your candle is extinguished and completely cooled, clean the jar with a dry paper towel to rid it of any soot. Once the wax has solidified, place the lid on to prevent dust build up.
Candle Storage
Store your candles in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, dust and fluorescent light.

Note:
Change in temperature may affect the physical appearance of the candle such as ‘frosting’ or non-adhesion to the glass. Do not worry as it is perfectly natural behaviour of soy wax due to it recrystallising and returning to its natural state. This happens to any natural, vegetable based candle wax.
Remember, this does not affect the performance of your candle at all. In fact, it signifies that the wax used is 100% natural and pure soy wax.
